Note: The optimal location of a girth weld at railroad crossings is at least 10 ft (3 m) from the centerline of the track for a single track crossing. Substantial reductions in the value of applied cyclic longitudinal stress may be obtained for single track crossing. No reduction factor should be taken for the fatigue check when evaluating pipeline crossings beneath two or more adjacent tracks.
